Lip-Sync Dubbing in Arabic, Bengali, Mandarin Chinese, Russian, Spanish, with English subtitles
CULTURAL ORIENTATION AND LANGUAGE LEARNING (ESL – English as a second language)
Together with long-time industry partner Eriksen Translations, InterNation produced foreign language versions of this nine episode Emmy-Award winning program for the New York City Mayor’s Office of Adult Education and The City University of New York (CUNY). The program features dubbing in Arabic, Bengali, Mandarin Chinese, Russian and Spanish.
The project involved casting voice-over talent for 36 speaking parts, including children. Casting extended over a period of months until approx .15-20 Arabic, Bengali, Mandarin Chinese, Russian and Spanish voice actors had been assembled per language. High quality voice-over script translations had been prepared with accurate syllable counts in the foreign language to match the source language English phrasing for near flawless synchronization of text and mouth movements.
Using lock-to-picture recording techniques, expert dialog coaches and extensive post-editing with music and sound effects to make everything sound like it’s on location — not in a recording studio — the results speak for themselves.
InterNation also provided English DVD subtitles for each program so that the shows would serve not only as a cultural orientation to life in New York City, but also as an English language learning resource.
