Lip-sync dubbing in Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, Russian, Spanish, and English subtitles

ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING AND CULTURAL ORIENTATION

Together with Eriksen Translations, an industry partner for over two decades, InterNation localized this nine part program Emmy-Award winning TV show for The City University of New York (CUNY) and the New York City Mayor’s Office of Adult Education.

This Arabic, Bengali, Mandarin Chinese, Russian and Spanish, translation, subtitling, dubbing, and DVD authoring project , which took over one year to complete, involved nine 25-minute episodes. InterNation was responsible for auditioning and casting  native Arabic, Bengali, Mandarin Chinese, Russian and Spanish, voice-over talent for 36 speaking parts that also included children. The result was a cast of 15-20 foreign language voice actors, several of whom had more than one speaking role.  Script translations specially tailored to match phrasing and prosody of the spoken English permitted the near flawless synchronization of  mouth movements and text  — you’ll see these samples speak for themselves.

InterNation used lock-to-video recording and dubbing techniques, expert bilingual script supervisors and dialog coaches as well as elaborate audio mixing, editing and audio sweetening to produce soundtracks that appear to have been recorded on-location.

Each episode on DVD also features streaming English subtitles of the spoken foreign language text programmed to be turned on or off  by the viewer,  so that the target audiences could also use it as an English language learning tool.
